Czechs earn almost the least in Europe: salaries are significantly below average

Salaries in Europe grew last year, and the Czech Republic is no exception, but it still ranks in the lower half of the list of countries by annual salaries. For example, people earn more in Spain or Slovenia.

The Statistical Office of the European Commission, Eurostat, published a ranking of countries based on the average annual salary of full-time employees. In 2023, salaries were expected to grow by 6.5% compared to the previous year, reaching an average of 37,900 euros, or about 950,000 Czech crowns.

However, the Czech Republic is significantly lagging behind in the rankings. Of the 26 countries analyzed, it ranked in the second half, at 17th place. According to Eurostat, the average annual salary in 2023 was 23,454 euros, which is approximately 593,178 Czech crowns.
