Trump taps anti-establishment lawmaker Matt Gaetz for Attorney General

Donald Trump has announced Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) as his choice for U.S. Attorney General, signaling a strong commitment to reforming Washington’s power structures.

Gaetz, a staunch Trump supporter known for his vigorous advocacy in Congress, campaigned widely for Trump and is recognized for his aggressive questioning on the House Judiciary Committee. Trump shared his nomination on Truth Social, praising Gaetz as a “tenacious attorney” with a proven dedication to Department of Justice reform.

Trump emphasized Gaetz’s commitment to ending political bias within the justice system, securing borders, dismantling criminal networks, and restoring public confidence in the DOJ. Gaetz expressed his honor at the nomination, which will require Senate approval.

While Gaetz may face a challenging confirmation process, Trump is expected to press hard for Senate support. With Gaetz’s focus on constitutional values and anti-corruption measures, Trump aims to return integrity and transparency to the Justice Department.
