European Commission approves €4 billion grant for Ukraine

The European Commission has approved the allocation of €4 billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the form of grants and loans under the Ukraine Facility program.

This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on X (formerly Twitter).

The funds are part of the macro-financial assistance program for Ukraine, which totals up to €50 billion.

“The European Commission has given the green light for a new payment of €4 billion from the Ukraine Facility,” von der Leyen stated. “The first installments under the program were provided without conditions, and future payments will depend on the implementation of specific reform plans in various sectors.”

The previous tranche of nearly €4.2 billion under the Ukraine Facility was transferred to Ukraine by the European Commission in August.
