Poland has helped Ukraine by nearly 5% of its GDP, 85% of which went to refugees

The Office of the President of Poland has released an infographic showing that the country has allocated 4.91% of its GDP in aid to Ukraine since the start of the war.

This was reported in a series of messages from the Polish presidential office on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The office highlighted that Poland ranks first among countries supporting Ukraine in terms of aid as a percentage of GDP. Poland was the first to begin supplying Ukraine with large-scale heavy weaponry. Additionally, the office emphasized that Poland is one of the countries that has accepted the largest number of Ukrainian refugees.

Poland has allocated the equivalent of 4.91% of its GDP in aid to Ukraine, of which 0.71% of GDP was direct support to the country, and 4.2% of GDP went to expenses related to helping Ukrainian refugees, the message stated.

Thus, approximately 85% of the aid provided by Poland has gone to supporting Ukrainian refugees.

The office also noted that Poland delivered the first batch of T-72 tanks to Ukraine in the first half of 2022. “We also delivered, among other things, over 250 BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles, 100 Rosomak armored personnel carriers, nine BRDM-2 reconnaissance vehicles, more than a hundred self-propelled guns, and over 30 BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launch systems,” the message added.

In total, Poland has provided Ukraine with military aid worth €3.23 billion.
