Trump intends to make a deal with Putin on Ukraine – The Wall Street Journal

Donald Trump, the winner of the US presidential election, has expressed positive views about Russian President Vladimir Putin, as he aims to strike a deal with him regarding Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing former US Special Representative for Ukraine, Kurt Volker.

Volker also reminded journalists that while Trump had previously sought to maintain friendly relations with the Russian leader during his presidency, he still took actions against Russia, such as lifting the ban on arms supplies to Ukraine before the conflict began.

On November 7, Russian President Putin noted that Donald Trump’s comments on resolving the Ukrainian crisis were worth paying attention to. The Russian leader expressed his willingness to create conditions for a long-term resolution of the conflict, ensuring that Ukraine remains an independent, sovereign state, rather than a tool in the hands of third countries.
