Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has once again declared the highest level of weather alert in Valencia, a province already severely affected by heavy floods this autumn.
Earlier, the red alert for rain was also announced in Andalusia and Catalonia. Due to worsening weather, authorities have evacuated nearly 3,000 people from coastal areas of Málaga province. Among them, 30 are in shelters, while the rest are staying with relatives and friends. Classes have also been canceled in several towns across Valencia and Andalusia.
Heavy rains hit various regions of Spain on October 29, with the southern and eastern areas being particularly affected as the weather alert was raised to the maximum level. The death toll from the floods has exceeded 220. The disasters caused significant damage to Valencia’s road infrastructure, making it the hardest-hit region in eastern Spain.
