Weapons and explosives discovered in central Athens apartment

Greek anti-terrorism police uncovered a cache of guns and explosives in the storage area of an apartment in central Athens, authorities reported on Wednesday.

This discovery comes just weeks after a fatal explosion in the city that killed a man and injured a woman.

The apartment’s owner alerted the police to the find, stating that he had no prior knowledge of the weapons and explosives stored in the unit. The evidence has since been sent to a crime laboratory for further examination.

The anti-terrorism unit is investigating whether the find is connected to a blast on October 31, which occurred when a bomb exploded while being assembled in an apartment. This incident has been tied to a resurgence of activities by anti-establishment guerrilla groups, according to police.
