Billionaire Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy have proposed a plan to reform the U.S. federal government aimed at reducing expenses and cutting bureaucracy.
In an article for The Wall Street Journal, they described the country’s current financial policies as an “existential threat” to democracy, calling for decisive action.
The key elements of their plan include:
Reducing the number of federal employees in proportion to the number of repealed laws.
Eliminating excessive regulations and subsidies to simplify life for citizens and businesses.
Decreasing funding for state media, international organizations, and NGOs.
The authors emphasized that support would be provided to laid-off employees transitioning to the private sector. “They deserve to be treated with respect,” the article stated.
Despite expected resistance from Washington’s political establishment, Musk and Ramaswamy are confident in the success of their initiative. Previously, President Donald Trump appointed them to lead a department for government efficiency, tasking them with completing the project by the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
