The Spanish government is preparing its first special national civil defense plan to protect citizens in the event of military risks. This was reported by the newspaper 20minutos, citing sources from the country’s Ministry of the Interior.
The plan is part of the Second National Civil Defense Strategy — a five-year initiative approved by the National Security Council on October 15. The strategy is expected to be published soon in the Official State Gazette.
Spain is drawing on the experience of other European countries, such as Finland, Norway, and Sweden, which have already started informing their citizens about actions to take in the event of a military crisis.
The development of the Spanish plan involves, in particular, the staff of the National Civil Defense Directorate and the Ministry of Defense. The main goal is to create a document that will provide the public with instructions on how to act in the event of a military conflict threat. This plan will be based on existing guides created for addressing other common disasters, such as wildfires, volcanic eruptions, or floods.
