U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican, has issued a stark warning to U.S. allies considering enforcing an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Graham emphasized that 124 countries, signatories of the Rome Statute, could potentially execute the warrant.
“If you are going to help the ICC as a nation and force the arrest warrant against Bibi and Gallant, the former defense minister, I will put sanctions on you as a nation,” Graham stated.
The senator revealed that he is collaborating with fellow Republican Senator Tom Cotton on legislation that would impose sanctions on any country aiding in the arrest of Israeli politicians.
“What they’re doing in Israel is trying to prevent a second Holocaust. So, to any ally, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, if you try to help the ICC, we’re gonna sanction you.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has stated that Canada is obligated to comply with the ICC warrant, a position echoed by leaders in Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and several other European countries.
“We should crush your economy because we’re next…Why can’t they go after Trump or any other American president?”
