Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who was arrested last week on charges of rape, will be released from custody.
According to his lawyer Øyvind Bratlien, the decision to release Høiby is the right one. At the same time, the Oslo police have initiated an investigation into a new case of a possible sexual offense, although no charges have yet been filed against him, reports the local news agency. Details of the new investigation have not been disclosed.
27-year-old Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stepson of the heir to the throne, was arrested for a week on charges of two sexual offenses, with a ban on communication and visits imposed.
Earlier, it was reported that Høiby had been detained on charges of rape. Additionally, on August 4, the police arrested him after a domestic fight in his apartment in Oslo, where he allegedly inflicted bodily harm on a woman who he had a relationship with. Later, Høiby admitted to assaulting his girlfriend under the influence of cocaine and alcohol.
According to Norwegian media, the police found a knife stuck in the wall of the woman’s bedroom. The day after the incident, the woman sought medical help, but hospitalization was not required.
