Europe will not be able to replace U.S. arms supplies to Ukraine

Europe will not be able to substitute for U.S. arms deliveries to Ukraine if former President Donald Trump, upon returning to power, decides to limit assistance to Kyiv.

This was reported by Bloomberg, highlighting Ukraine’s growing dependence on American military support. The article notes that Ukraine has completely transitioned from Soviet weapons systems to Western counterparts, making the country almost entirely reliant on U.S. supplies, which remain the largest source of military aid to Kyiv.

Meanwhile, Russia, despite sanctions and international pressure, produces more artillery shells than all European countries combined. Experts from Bloomberg emphasize that European allies are already struggling to meet their own rearmament needs. Nonetheless, if American aid is reduced, it will be Europe that has to fill the gap. However, doing so will be extremely difficult.

The publication points out that such a scenario raises questions about the sustainability of support for Ukraine amidst potential political changes in the United States and the challenges of adapting Europe’s defense industry to new demands.
