Putin to Ukrainian government: “We will use everything, every destructive device that Russia owns”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a stark warning regarding Ukraine’s potential acquisition of nuclear weapons.

During a visit to Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, Putin told reporters, “We will use everything, every weapon of destruction that Russia has. Everything. We will not allow this,” in response to a question about what would happen if Ukraine obtained nuclear arms.

Putin’s remarks come amid recent discussions in the West about supplying Ukraine with nuclear weapons as a deterrent. However, there’s no concrete evidence that Western leaders are seriously considering such a move.

Meanwhile, as Russia escalates attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, millions of Ukrainians were left without power on Wednesday, and there are growing concerns that freezing winter temperatures will drive more people to flee the country. Putin also revealed that Russia is preparing to target key “decision-making centers” in Kyiv, retaliating for Ukraine’s long-range missile strikes on Russian territory with Western-made systems.
