Chinese crypto millionaire and founder of the Tron blockchain network, Justin Sun, ate the banana that was taped to a wall, which he had previously purchased for $6.2 million.
A video of the event, shared on social media, showed Sun stating that the banana “tastes much better than other bananas.” The banana, part of an artwork called “Comedian,” was created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan as a “provocation aimed at reflecting on the value of art.” The piece was sold on November 21 at an auction by Sotheby’s.
After the purchase, Sun posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that he intended to eat the banana in the coming days. During a special press conference in Hong Kong, he fulfilled his promise, stating, “Much tastier than other bananas. Honestly, very good” before taking a bite of the fruit.
Notably, it had been about a week since the purchase before he ate the banana.
