A week ago, Czech police charged a well-known Prague “physiotherapist” nicknamed Maso (“Meat”) with the rape of 11 women.
At the time, investigators emphasized that the actual number of victims could be higher, as the 51-year-old defendant has over 20 years of experience and has provided services not only in Prague but also in Brno. Criminal investigators called on other victims of the man to come forward through the media, and this appeal has yielded results.
Five more women have contacted us and will be questioned in the coming days. We have already arranged meetings with them. All of these women are clients of the accused. We will provide more details later, said Jan Ryban, a representative of the authorities.
He once again urged other women who believe they are victims to call the hotline at 158 or contact investigators directly at 974 851 576. Representatives from the Czech Physiotherapists Union stated that the accused did not have the proper qualifications and was unlawfully presenting himself as a physiotherapist. They emphasized that the defendant was a massage therapist working under a standard business license, while physiotherapy services can only be provided by qualified healthcare professionals with relevant education.
Investigators have determined that the sexual assaults took place between February 2023 and June 2024 in an office located on Karmelitská Street in central Prague. The victims reported that the assaults occurred during medical procedures while they were partially undressed on a massage table.
The man is currently in custody. He had previously boasted of having high-profile clients and claimed to have “the golden hands of the Czech Republic.”
