In South Korea, the military is taking control of the parliament building

A helicopter landed on the roof of the National Assembly, after which special forces entered the building. The first protesters are gathering around, and clashes have begun.

Opposition leader Lee Jae-myung stated that they do not recognize Yoon Suk-yeol as president and called on citizens to gather at the parliament. The opposition insists on holding a session to cancel the declared martial law, while the military has announced a ban on the activities of the parliament and political parties.

Opposition forces accuse the president of attempting to establish a military dictatorship and are urging people to protest.

The president declared martial law after the parliament began impeachment proceedings against several high-ranking officials and rejected the government’s budget proposals.
