Germany is conducting an extensive operation targeting a migrant smuggling network that facilitated the transport of individuals from France to the UK.
This coordinated international effort is focused on dismantling a network that used substandard rubber boats to transport migrants from the Middle East and East Africa.
The operation, which began early in the morning, involves law enforcement in the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg. A spokesperson for the federal police in Düsseldorf stated that “law enforcement agencies from France have joined the investigation.”
More than ten European arrest warrants have been issued for the suspects, including both network organizers and ordinary members. Over 500 federal police officers in North Rhine-Westphalia are involved, with the Ruhr region being the primary focus.
The large-scale operation is managed by Europol and Eurojust, two European agencies. Additionally, it is noteworthy that since September 16, Germany has resumed border checks on its land borders with France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Denmark.
