A legal dispute has begun in the Czech Republic between a dentist from Ostrava and a patient who claims the specialist removed 18 healthy teeth.
The dentist has been charged with causing severe harm to health with lifelong consequences. The patient is demanding compensation of 140,000 euros.
The plaintiff stated:
“The doctor claimed that the only way to treat me was to remove 18 teeth, which, upon further examination, turned out to be completely healthy. He pressured me to pay 25,000 euros within two days, saying that otherwise he would not be able to help me and that it was my only chance for recovery. I believed him, and he destroyed my mouth and damaged my trigeminal nerve.”
The dentist denies the charges and commented on the situation:
“Some people want my professional death and are not shy about using this patient to achieve it. He is meant to be a tool for my destruction.”
The dentist believes that the case is connected to his unsuccessful attempt to run for the position of head of the Czech Dental Chamber and his views on the state of dental care in the country.
