Serbia is actively negotiating with Russia to extend its natural gas supply contract with Gazprom PJSC, which is set to expire in March. Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin confirmed the discussions, aiming for the new deal to maintain supply volumes similar to the current agreement.
Speaking to Bloomberg at the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum in the UAE, Vulin emphasized that Serbia’s “strong relations” with Moscow place the country in a favorable position to negotiate economic matters, including the gas contract.
Vulin also addressed changes to the payment process for Russian gas supplies announced by President Vladimir Putin on December 5, stating, “Regarding payments, we will do everything agreed upon with Russia.”
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that a new agreement would be signed soon, saying, “I am absolutely certain that we will sign a new agreement very soon, and that we will have excellent terms.”
Serbia, which consumes around 3 billion cubic meters of gas annually, currently imports about two-thirds of its gas from Gazprom at advantageous prices.
