A powerful explosion rocked a residential area in the northern part of The Hague on Saturday morning, causing the partial collapse of a building and injuring at least four people.
The explosion occurred around 6:15 AM in the Tarwekamp neighborhood, affecting five houses. One section of the building collapsed, and a fire broke out at the site. The building consists of apartments on two floors, with a bridal shop occupying the ground floor.
Approximately 40 nearby houses were evacuated. The injured individuals were hospitalized, but rescue teams remain uncertain if more people are trapped under the rubble.
Firefighters, rescue workers with service dogs, and forensic investigators are working at the scene. Medical personnel are on standby, and the mayor of The Hague has visited the site.
While Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands, The Hague hosts the country’s key governmental institutions, embassies, and several international courts.
