Newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is “ready for peace.”
Trump made this conclusion following a meeting with Zelensky in Paris, as he revealed in an interview with New York Post.
He wants to make peace. This is something new. He wants a ceasefire, Trump said. According to him, Zelensky believes the time has come to end the conflict.
Trump also noted that, in his view, Russian President Vladimir Putin should share this sentiment.
Trump emphasized that he discussed with Zelensky ways to end the war:
I am working on a concept to put an end to this ridiculous war.
Meanwhile, Zelensky recently stated that he opposes a ceasefire as long as Russian troops remain on occupied territories. Nevertheless, this is the second time Trump has claimed that the Ukrainian leader is interested in a peaceful resolution.
