Trump says Ukraine will be his top foreign policy priority after inauguration

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump stated that after his inauguration, he will focus on resolving the situation in Ukraine, calling it his top foreign policy priority.

In an interview with the French magazine Paris Match, recorded during Trump’s visit to France on November 7 and published today, he emphasized the urgent need to address the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

We need to solve the Ukraine problem with Russia. Both countries are suffering tremendous losses that are hard to comprehend. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers are dying, he said.

Trump also highlighted that the Middle East remains an important priority for him, but he considers the situation there less complicated than in Ukraine.

Additionally, Reuters reported that during a meeting in Paris with Volodymyr Zelensky and Emmanuel Macron, Trump expressed his intention to push for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to quickly end the war. However, neither Trump nor his advisers provided answers regarding the security guarantees Ukraine is seeking as part of a potential settlement.
