Explosion at a military training ground in central Romania: five soldiers injured

As a result of an explosion during training at the Goran military training ground in Vâlcea County, central Romania, four cadets and an instructor were injured.

The soldiers were wounded during a session on the production of “pyrotechnic incendiary devices with combat explosives,” according to Romania’s Ministry of Defense.

“The injured were evacuated to the emergency hospital of Vâlcea County for specialized care, and their condition is stable,” the defense ministry added.

Emergency services in Vâlcea later reported that the victims had facial and limb injuries caused by shrapnel. One of the five injured is in critical condition and will be transferred to the Military Hospital in Bucharest.
