On Thursday, December 12, French President Emmanuel Macron paid a visit to the Polish capital, Warsaw. The news was confirmed by Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski.
According to the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita, the main topic of Macron’s discussions in Warsaw will be a potential European peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. It is reported that Macron had previously discussed this idea with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in Paris.
Journalists also suggest that the topic of the peacekeeping mission was raised during Macron’s meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in November and later during talks with representatives of Northern European, Baltic, and Polish nations on November 27.
Polish media highlight that Macron’s visit is closely linked to recent negotiations with Zelensky and Trump, which took place over the weekend.
