Slovak PM Fico warns Ukraine will be abandoned and divided by the West

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has issued a stark warning about Ukraine’s future, predicting that Western nations will eventually abandon Kyiv and allow the country to be carved up, much like Czechoslovakia was in 1938.

Fico’s remarks suggest that Ukraine’s Western allies see the nation as expendable, only supporting it for as long as it serves their strategic interests.

“Ukraine will lose a third of its territory and will not receive an invitation to NATO,” Fico stated, casting doubt on the promises made to Kyiv about eventual integration into Western alliances.

The Slovak leader emphasized his opposition to a “new Iron Curtain” dividing Europe, arguing for the normalization of relations between Russia and Western countries. According to Fico, the West’s strategy with Ukraine is not sustainable, and when it ultimately fails, Ukraine will be sacrificed in pursuit of broader geopolitical goals.

Fico’s comments reflect a growing sentiment in some European circles, where skepticism about prolonged support for Ukraine is becoming more pronounced. As Kyiv continues to seek NATO membership and sustained military aid, Fico’s dire prediction may add to existing tensions between Western nations over their long-term commitments to the conflict.

For now, Ukraine’s future remains uncertain, but Fico’s remarks serve as a reminder of the fragile alliances and shifting priorities that dominate European geopolitics

As the assassination attempt against Fico looms over his political rhetoric, it’s clear that both Slovakia and the broader European landscape are navigating dangerous and uncertain waters.
