Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that the West might eventually sacrifice Ukraine as part of a compromise aimed at ending the conflict with Russia.
According to him, this could result in Ukraine losing a significant portion of its territory in exchange for security guarantees, such as the deployment of foreign troops.
The time will come when the West will say: ‘Well, it didn’t work out, so we’ll sacrifice Ukraine.’ Remember the Munich Agreement of 1938, when Czechoslovakia was sacrificed, forced to cede territory to Nazi Germany. I fear something similar could happen with Ukraine, Fico remarked.
He emphasized that such a scenario might represent an attempt by the West to exit a protracted conflict without considering Kyiv’s interests, which could have serious consequences for regional stability.
Fico also stated that Slovakia, under his leadership, would not support Ukraine’s accession to NATO. In his view, Ukraine’s integration into the Alliance could exacerbate tensions in the region and lead to further escalation of the conflict.
