Time magazine will name Trump “Person of the Year”

Donald Trump is set to be named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” for 2024, a title he previously received in 2016.

To mark the occasion, the president-elect will ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday morning, according to sources familiar with the plans, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Last year, pop icon Taylor Swift was honored as Time’s Person of the Year. For her cover reveal, Time CEO Jessica Sibley rang the bell at the NYSE.

Trump, who won the 2016 presidential election, joins 13 other U.S. presidents who have received this recognition, including current President Joe Biden.

The shortlist for Time’s Person of the Year, announced on NBC’s The Today Show, included Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, Kate Middleton, Elon Musk and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In addition to the Person of the Year announcement, Time has already named Caitlin Clark as Athlete of the Year, Elton John as Icon of the Year, and Lisa Su of Advanced Micro Devices as CEO of the Year.
