Donald Trump has expressed strong opposition to allowing the United States to authorize Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory using American-made missiles.
In an article by Time that covered Trump’s recognition as Person of the Year, he criticized Kyiv for launching missiles into Russia, questioning the rationale behind such actions.
“I disagree very vehemently with sending missiles hundreds of miles into Russia. Why are we doing that?” he says. “We’re just escalating this war and making it worse.”
He reiterated his desire to end the Russia-Ukraine war, calling the loss of so many lives insanity.
“The numbers of dead young soldiers lying on fields all over the place are staggering. It’s crazy what’s taking place.”
In November, Mike Waltz, a Congressman from Florida and one of Trump’s national security advisors, stated that allowing Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to target Russian territory would lead to escalation.
