French police are investigating the deaths of five people who were fatally shot on Saturday, December 14, in the Dunkirk area in northern France.
According to the Associated Press, citing law enforcement sources, the 22-year-old suspect who carried out the shooting voluntarily surrendered to the authorities.
The French Ministry of the Interior reported that the first victim was an unidentified business owner in Wormhout, south of Dunkirk. This was followed by the killing of two private security guards and two migrants in Loon-Plage, located west of Dunkirk.
The Dunkirk prosecutor stated that the suspect surrendered to a gendarmerie brigade in Ghyvelde, east of Dunkirk, at around 5:20 PM, claiming responsibility for the five killings.
Several firearms were found in the suspect’s car, and he was taken into custody. Authorities are now working to determine the suspect’s motive.
