Macron demands new PM to submit government ministers by end of day

French President Emmanuel Macron is pressuring his newly appointed Prime Minister François Bayrou to present the list of government ministers by the end of Tuesday.

According to Politico, citing an unnamed advisor to the French president, Macron’s demand came after Bayrou stated on Monday that he planned to announce his list of ministers by the end of the week. However, Bayrou quickly blamed Macron for any delays in forming the government, sarcastically adding that he needed the president to be in France to make the appointments, referencing Macron’s busy international schedule.

Macron, who has built a reputation for taking time in decision-making, was displeased by Bayrou’s comment. In response, he urged the prime minister to send him the list of ministers by the evening of Tuesday.

Macron “expects the proposal” from the prime minister after he completes talks with parliamentary leaders on Tuesday, the French president’s advisor stated.
