Most Poles hold PM Tusk responsible for skyrocketing food prices

Poles are increasingly blaming Prime Minister Donald Tusk for the rising cost of living, especially as food prices soar. Recent data shows a sharp 5% jump in butter prices in just one week, with the cost of 200 grams reaching PLN 8.95 (€2.10).

Experts like Dr. Mariusz Dziwulski of PKO BP predict that butter could cost as much as PLN 10 next year. Other food items like broccoli and bananas are also seeing steep price hikes.

In a recent poll commissioned by Super Express, over half of respondents (52%) pointed the finger at Tusk for the rising prices. Only 20% blamed Adam Glapiński, while 14% held Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party, responsible—despite his party not being in power. The survey, conducted in early December, highlights widespread discontent as Poles feel the pinch from soaring food prices.

With prices rising across the board, including a 1.2% weekly increase in basic products, Poles are looking to Tusk for answers. The government’s handling of inflation is clearly a point of growing frustration, especially as many feel the EU’s policies are making the situation worse.
