U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has sued the Des Moines Register newspaper and pollster Ann Seltzer, accusing them of interfering in the election.
Before the election, the newspaper published poll results indicating weak support for Trump in Iowa. However, he ultimately won the state. The lawsuit claims the poll was a “political spectacle” orchestrated by Selzer to “mislead voters.” Trump is seeking damages, though the amount has not been disclosed.
The newspaper called the lawsuit baseless, and University of California law professor Rick Hasen stated that the case is unlikely to succeed due to protections for free speech in the United States.
