An incident with a tragic outcome occurred in Göttingen, Germany, on the evening of December 18. A man assaulted a passerby and then attacked police officers with a knife, leading to his fatal shooting.
According to police reports, the attacker was likely suffering from a mental health disorder. He pushed an unfamiliar woman for no apparent reason, prompting her to call emergency services. When officers arrived at the scene, the 35-year-old man unexpectedly attacked one of them with a knife, injuring the officer in the upper body. In response, one of the officers opened fire, fatally wounding the attacker.
