In Texas, man drove truck into shopping center, five hurt

In the U.S. state of Texas, a man fleeing from police drove a truck into the entrance of a shopping mall, ABC News reports, citing local authorities.

The incident left five people injured, and the driver was fatally shot by police. The events unfolded in the city of Killeen, where officers attempted to stop the man, who was allegedly driving under the influence. The driver refused to pull over, eventually driving into the parking lot of the Killeen Mall. He then crashed through the glass doors of the mall entrance, hitting several people.

Five people were injured, and the man driving the truck was shot and killed after law enforcement officers opened fire, the report stated.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the injured individuals, ranging in age from six to 75, sustained varying degrees of injuries. Authorities are investigating whether the crash into the mall was intentional or a desperate attempt to evade the police pursuit.
