The police in the German city of Bremerhaven reported the arrest of a man who threatened to launch a knife attack at a Christmas market in a video message.
A video appeared on social media in which the man declared his intention to commit a serious crime in Bremerhaven. After receiving this information, the police immediately launched an investigation. On Sunday evening, the suspect was arrested in one of the city’s districts. The investigation is ongoing, according to the police statement on Facebook.
According to Bild newspaper, in the TikTok video, the man threatened to attack visitors at the Christmas market on December 25, particularly targeting those “who look Arab or southern.” The police stated that there is currently no threat to the public.
Earlier, on December 20, a tragic incident occurred in Magdeburg, where a car drove into a crowd at a Christmas market. Five people were killed, and more than 200 were injured. Authorities report that the driver was a 50-year-old man from Saudi Arabia, acting alone. He had arrived in Germany as a refugee in 2016 and had a residence permit.
