Fire breaks out in Munich nursing home, at least 7 injured

On Christmas Eve, a fire broke out on the top floor and in the bell tower of the Vincentinum nursing home in Munich. Firefighters are currently battling the blaze.

The bell tower is made of wood and is at risk of collapsing, according to a fire service representative speaking to BILD. Parts of the roof have already collapsed.

Firefighters evacuated 60 people from the building. Seven individuals were injured in the fire, though the severity of their injuries is not yet known. The affected area of the building was inhabited.

The Munich Unified Dispatch Center issued an alert for residents of nearby areas. Due to the fire in the nursing home’s roof, strong smoke with a burning smell is spreading. In the Altstadt and Lehel districts of Munich, residents have been advised to close windows and doors and turn off ventilation and air conditioning systems.
