Poland to set a record by spending $40 billion on arms and ammunition in 2024

In 2024, Poland allocated a record-breaking $40 billion for the procurement of new weapons, with a significant portion of the funds spent on contracts with the U.S. defense industry.

According to Rzeczpospolita, the total value of contracts for new military equipment for the Polish army exceeded 162 billion zlotys (approximately $39.5 billion). Out of this, around 110 billion zlotys were allocated for purchases from foreign manufacturers.

One of the largest contracts was the acquisition of 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, valued at approximately $10 billion. The procurement of such a large number of helicopters will make Poland the second-largest user of these machines after the United States. However, this also means that other areas of the armed forces may remain underfunded, the publication notes.
