Car deliberately drives into crowd of demonstrators in Munich: 20 injured and one dead

In Munich, on Thursday morning, a car drove into a group of people. According to preliminary information, one person was killed, and at least 20 others were injured, including children. It is believed that the driver acted intentionally, reports BR24.

The incident occurred during a demonstration by the Verdi union. A Mini Cooper crashed into the protesters. Eyewitnesses reported that the victims were lying on the pavement, while others sat, crying and shaking from shock. A large police operation has been launched at the scene, in the area of Dachauerstrasse and Seidlstrasse.

According to the Munich mayor’s office, children are among the injured. The driver was arrested at the scene. According to the police, he no longer poses a danger, and witnesses report that the driver was a young man.
