Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the United States and Israel share a common approach to handling the situation in Gaza, emphasizing “full cooperation and coordination” with Washington.
His remarks came on Sunday as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio began a diplomatic tour of the Middle East.
“President Trump and I are working in full cooperation and coordination between us. We have a common strategy,” Netanyahu said during a press conference alongside Rubio, who is also set to visit the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Netanyahu stressed Israel’s commitment to ensuring that “Gaza will never again pose a threat to Israel” and highlighted the “unequivocal support” from the U.S. He added that he and Rubio discussed Trump’s “bold vision” for Gaza’s future and ways to implement it.
Earlier this month, Trump proposed that the U.S. take control of the Gaza Strip and transform it into a riviera, with its population relocated to neighboring countries. The plan has already faced opposition from Arab nations.
Rubio praised the initiative, stating that it required “courage and vision.” He acknowledged that it may have “shocked and surprised many” but argued that the current cycle of conflict in Gaza cannot continue.
During their meeting, Netanyahu and Rubio also discussed broader regional issues, including Iran, Syria, and Lebanon.
