Mass demonstrations for women’s rights held in France

On March 8, International Women’s Day, thousands of demonstrations for women’s rights took place across France. According to organizers, up to 250,000 people took to the streets, including around 120,000 in Paris.

The protests were organized by trade unions and social movements advocating against wage inequality, domestic violence, and discrimination.

According to statistics, the gender pay gap in France stood at 14.3% in 2023. Protesters called on the authorities to take stronger measures to protect women’s rights.
