CNN: U.S. delegation to meet with Russians in Saudi Arabia this week

The U.S. will meet not only with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia this week but also separately with Russian representatives, according to CNN, citing a source familiar with the plans.

“This week in Saudi Arabia, senior officials from the Trump administration will hold separate meetings with Russian and Ukrainian officials,” the network reported, referring to an unnamed source.

The source declined to disclose who will attend the negotiations. It is also unclear in which city the U.S.-Russia meeting will take place. Meanwhile, U.S.-Ukraine talks in Saudi Arabia are set to be held in Jeddah. These discussions come as both countries work to strengthen relations after a dispute in the Oval Office on February 28.

According to The Times, the UK has been advising Ukraine ahead of negotiations with the U.S. to prevent another major diplomatic fallout.

Reuters previously reported that American officials plan to use the meeting in Saudi Arabia partly to assess whether Ukraine is willing to make significant concessions to Russia in exchange for ending the war.
