Former MMA fighter Conor McGregor announces bid for president of Ireland

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor has revealed his intention to run for president of Ireland, sharing the news with his followers on Instagram.

McGregor reminded his audience that the next presidential election must be held before November 11, 2025.

If elected, McGregor vowed to put the European Union Migration Pact to a national vote, which is slated to be fully implemented in Ireland by June 12, 2026.

“Although I oppose greatly this pact, it is neither mine nor governments choice to make. It is the people of Irelands choice!” he wrote.

In the accompanying photo, McGregor is seen holding a child in front of an airplane while wearing a green cap that reads “Make Ireland Great Again,” a nod to U.S. President Donald Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again.”

Recently, President Trump referred to McGregor as one of his favorite Irishmen.
