U.S. Special Envoy Kit Kellogg told Fox News in an interview that the conflict in Ukraine is on the verge of a ceasefire, but for this to happen, both sides must reach an agreement. He expressed confidence that this is possible and emphasized that neither side will get everything they want.
According to Kellogg, U.S. President Donald Trump is disappointed with the actions of both sides, but the U.S. will continue to insist on a full ceasefire.
We are striving for a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire. Once this is achieved, resuming the war will become very difficult. This is what I believe. We need to formulate conditions for both sides—Russia and Ukraine. These conditions need to be brought to a common denominator, he added.
Kellogg also noted that Trump continues to work focused on progress in the peace process.
Earlier, on March 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation, during which Trump proposed a mutual 30-day moratorium on strikes against the energy infrastructure of both countries. Putin supported this initiative.
