Car catches fire in Amsterdam’s Dam Square, driver injured

A car burst into flames in Amsterdam’s central square on April 3, leaving one person injured.

The incident occurred during the day in front of the National Monument at Dam Square. Police closed the area while assisting the driver, who sustained injuries. “We suspect that the fire was caused by the driver,” the police stated.

Witnesses reported hearing what sounded like an explosion before the fire broke out.

This event follows another alarming incident near Dam Square last week, where a man, later identified as a Ukrainian, injured five people. The prosecution is investigating a potential terrorist motive.
