Trump accused China of panicking over imposing retaliatory duties

U.S. President Donald Trump responded sharply to China’s decision to impose retaliatory tariffs on American goods.

In a statement on the social network Truth Social, he claimed that Beijing had “played it wrong” and “panicked.”

China played it wrong, they panicked, and that’s something they can’t afford to do, Trump wrote.

The statement came after the State Council of China announced on Friday the introduction of additional tariffs amounting to 34% on all U.S. products. The new tariffs, set to take effect on April 10, are a response to similar measures imposed by the American authorities.
