Large-scale protests against Trump’s policies sweep US cities

On Saturday, mass protests took place across the United States in opposition to President Donald Trump’s policies. According to the Associated Press, demonstrations under the slogan “Hands Off!” were held in more than 1,200 locations across all 50 states.

Over 150 organizations took part in organizing the protests, including civil rights groups, labor unions, LGBTQ+ activists, veterans, and advocates for electoral reform.

Protesters voiced strong discontent with the actions of the Trump administration and his close ally, billionaire Elon Musk — particularly in areas such as the economy, immigration, human rights, and social programs.

Key issues raised during the demonstrations included the mass firing of federal employees, the downsizing of Social Security offices, the shutdown of government agencies, harsher immigration measures, reduced protections for transgender individuals, and cuts to healthcare funding.

While protests against Trump and Musk have occurred before, Saturday’s mobilization was one of the largest since Trump’s return to power. Similar demonstrations were also reported in several European cities.
