Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has arrived in Washington

Over the course of two days, the Israeli leader plans to hold a series of key meetings, including talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as with several high-ranking American officials, including representatives from the State Department, the Department of Defense, and Congress.

The main focus of the visit will be several pressing issues. First and foremost is the ongoing armed conflict in the Gaza Strip. The parties will discuss prospects for resolving the situation, as well as possible U.S. involvement in diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the region.

Another key item on the agenda will be the fate of 59 Israeli citizens who, according to Tel Aviv, are still being held captive by the Hamas group. The Israeli leadership is counting on U.S. support to put pressure on international mediators and organizations that may be able to influence the hostage release process.

Discussion is also expected on the newly adopted U.S. tariff policy, which imposes a 17% import duty on a range of Israeli goods. This move has raised concerns among Israeli business circles and could become the subject of tense economic negotiations. Netanyahu intends to seek a relaxation of the conditions or the exclusion of certain product categories from the new list.
