Nearly one ton of marijuana seized in Poland in shipment disguised as eco flooring

Polish authorities have seized drugs worth 20 million zloty (approximately $5.2 million) after uncovering a large quantity of marijuana hidden inside a shipment of eco-friendly wooden flooring panels from Canada.

The container, which arrived by sea in the port city of Gdańsk, was detained by officers from Poland’s National Revenue Administration. According to the official shipping documents, the cargo was declared as eco-friendly wooden flooring panels, intended for a Polish company.

Officials from the Pomeranian Customs and Tax Office in Gdynia conducted a thorough inspection of the container. Initially scanned by X-ray, the shipment was later unpacked for closer inspection. Behind a top layer of legitimate flooring products, officers discovered pallets stacked with boxes containing plastic bags filled with a plant-based substance.

Drug tests confirmed the substance to be marijuana. In total, nearly one ton of the drug was seized.
