Turkey has officially declared March 2025 the driest month the country has experienced in over three decades.
According to the Turkish State Meteorological Service, rainfall in March 2025 was far below both the seasonal averages and the levels seen in March 2024—dropping by 53% and 59%, respectively.
In several regions, such as Izmir, Aydın, Muğla, Denizli, and parts of Antalya, precipitation was up to 80% lower than usual for this time of year.
This significant drop in rainfall has made March 2025 the driest March Turkey has seen in the last 35 years.
Reports also indicated that March 2025 was the warmest month ever recorded across Europe.
In recent days, the Baltic states have experienced record-breaking temperatures for April, with highs reaching 28–29°C.
