Trump hopes for Ukraine-Russia agreement and joint business with U.S.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope for a swift peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

He made the statement on his social media platform, Truth Social.

I hope Russia and Ukraine reach an agreement this week. Both countries will start doing major business with the prosperous United States of America and will be making a fortune, Trump wrote.

He emphasized that once the war ends, both sides could build economic relations with the U.S., which, in his view, would benefit all parties involved.

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Washington might abandon its efforts to achieve peace if there is no progress in the coming days.

Later, Trump also confirmed that the U.S. could stop attempting to facilitate the peace process between Kyiv and Moscow if there are no results. However, he did not specify the conditions under which this might happen.

According to Bloomberg, one of the U.S. peace proposals under discussion may include a gradual easing of sanctions against Russia if a sustained ceasefire is maintained, as well as dropping the issue of Ukraine’s potential NATO membership.

Additionally, the agency reports that the possibility of recognizing Russia’s control over the Crimean Peninsula is being considered as part of a broader agreement to resolve the conflict.
